Morningstar, the investment research provider, has led the third round of funding for US-based YCharts, the online provider of stock market data analysis tools, which considers itself to be a web-based financial terminal.
Reed Elsevier Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of Anglo-Dutch media company Reed Elsevier, which focuses on making investments in internet, risk, healthcare and technology companies, also participated in the $3.9m funding round. Other investors included Amicus Capital (US-based, seed-stage information technology investor), Hyde Park Angels (US-based angel investor network focused on making seed and early stage investments across industry sectors), and the I2A Fund (US-based early stage and venture capital investor).
YCharts’ total funding has now climbed to $8.6m: in November 2011, it raised $3.3m series B funding, and in March 2010, $1.5m series A funding.
