India-based, tech-focused online media platform YourStory has closed a $6m funding round backed by Qualcomm Ventures, the corporate venturing subsidiary of mobile semiconductor producer Qualcomm.
The round was led by UC-RNT Fund, which was formed by the University of California and entrepreneur Ratan Tata, and included venture capital firm Kalaari Capital and VC fund 3one4 Capital.
Founded in 2008, YourStory covers the startup ecosystem in India in a variety of local languages. It regularly hosts events across the country, and in August 2017 expanded into its first international territory, Germany.
The company raised an amount founder and CEO Shradha Sharma told VCCircle was between $3m and $5m, in an August 2015 series A round led by Kalaari Capital and backed by Qualcomm Ventures, Ratan Tata and fellow angel investor TV Mohandas Pai.
The series A capital was followed by another $3m of funding in February 2017 from Qualcomm Ventures, Kalaari Capital, 3one4 Capital and UC-RNT, though it is unclear whether that formed part of the recently completed round.
