China-based assistant robot producer Beijing Yunji Technology has received an undisclosed amount in series C funding from investors including internet group Tencent and electronics manufacturer Lenovo.
Venture capital firm Qiming Venture Partners led the round, which was also backed by AlphaX Partners, Citic Securities and Lanting Capital. Lenovo participated through its corporate venturing arm, Lenovo Capital.
Founded in 2014, Yunji has built artificial intelligence and big data-powered service robots that can be used in various settings including hotels, companies, government offices, hospitals, retail stores and robotics research firms.
Lenovo Capital, AlphaX Partners and Citic Securities had provided an undisclosed amount for the company in a March 2020 series B-plus round that also featured Translink Capital and Qiming Venture Partners.
The company said it had raised a combined RMB500m ($77m) across the series B-plus and C rounds. It secured an undisclosed amount of series B funding in early 2019 from travel agency Ctrip and Guangkong Zhongying, a joint venture between billboard advertising company Focus Media and investment firm Everbright Capital, in addition to Haiyin Capital and Jinmao Capital.
Tencent had led a series A round in 2017 sized in the eight-digit dollar range, investing alongside HNA Capital, a subsidiary of airline operator HNA Group, as well as speech recognition software producer iFlyTek and Lanting Capital.
