Zenlayer thickens funding with series B round

Zenlayer, a US-based cloud software services provider backed by cybersecurity software producer NSFocus, raised more than RMB200m ($28.4m) in a series B round led by fund manager Forebright Capital today.

The round also featured venture capital firm Volcanics Venture and VC fund F&G Venture. The latter investor had led a $10m series A round for Zenlayer in May 2017 that included NSFocus and unnamed additional participants.

Founded in 2014, Zenlayer provides a range of cloud services for data centre operators covering areas such as software-defined wide-area networks (SD-WAN), cloud hosting, bare-metal cloud computing and protection from denial-of-service attacks.

The series B funding was provided by China-based investors, and the round comes after Zenlayer opened a research and development hub in the Chinese city of Hangzhou last month.

The company intends to channel the latest funding into further development of its SD-WAN, bare-metal cloud and cloud connectivity technology. It also plans to move into markets such as India, Brazil and Indonesia.

Zenlayer had, as of last month, increased its bare-metal cloud capacity by 110% since January this year. It acquired software-defined networking technology developer Daho Networks in February.
