Zinier zooms to $22m series B

US-based field service management technology provider Zinier has completed a $22m series B round featuring Qualcomm Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of semiconductor technology producer Qualcomm.

Venture capital firm Accel led the round, which included NGP Capital, the venture capital firm spun off and backed by communications equipment maker Nokia, as well as VC firms Founders Fund and Newfund.

Zinier is the creator of Field Service Elements, an artificial intelligence-driven software platform that automates some back office tasks while helping service technicians interact with equipment through an enhanced mobile system.

Part of its functions involve the platform monitoring equipment and historical data to automatically prompt service requests and allocate the resulting maintenance job to a qualified technician.

Arka Dhar, Zinier’s co-founder and chief executive, said: “The market opportunity for platform-based, automated field service is reflected in the huge demand we have seen from customers in infrastructure-heavy sectors, such as telecom and energy.

“With this additional investment, we are able to continue expanding the capabilities of our platform and extend the reach of intelligent field service automation to new strategic markets and geographies.”

The company had previously raised an undisclosed amount in a January 2018 series A round led by Accel and backed by New Fund, Stanford StartX and angel investors Kunal Bahl, Rohit Bansal and Ken Glass, all three of which were existing backers.
