US-based social media games company Zynga has acquired Japanese peer Unoh for an undisclosed amount.
Zynga has raised nearly $400m venture funding, including $147.4m from Japan-based media conglomerate Softbank Group, as well as Russian internet holding group Digital Sky Technologies, which is part owned by South Africa-based media group Naspers. However, reports that search engine group Google was investing a further $100m to $200m remain unconfirmed.
Zynga said Unoh would be part of its Zynga Japan’s mobile product, which is a joint venture between it and SoftBank.
Unoh was started in 2001 and has $1.7m of capital. Its games include Machitsuku!, Band Yarouyo!, and Kaizoku Chronicle.
