100 Thieves takes funding haul to $25m

US-based eSports and lifestyle brand 100 Thieves has closed a series A round of undisclosed size featuring media holding company WndrCo that increased its total funding to $25m.

The round was co-led by recording artist Drake and music manager Scooter Braun, and it included Tao Capital Partners, Sequoia Capital, Green Bay Ventures, Advancit Capital and Marc Benioff, CEO of enterprise software publisher Salesforce.

Founded in early 2016, 100 Thieves is an eSports organisation that sponsors teams entering competitive tournaments for games in series such as Call of Duty and League of Legends. It also markets gaming-inspired streetwear and lifestyle products based on its brand.

Drake and Scooter Braun will become strategic advisers for 100 Thieves, and Braun joined its board of directors in conjunction with the round. 100 Thieves previously worked with Drake to install gaming stations for his latest tour and will now partner the musician to develop new lines of apparel.

100 Thieves has not revealed details of past funding but it secured $2.5m in debt financing in April 2018, according to a regulatory filing. Its earlier backers include Courtside Ventures, Ludlow Ventures and angel investors Dan Gilbert and Drew Houston.
