US-based Big Switch Networks has raised a further $6.5m in a series B round of funding from Intel Capital, adding to the $25m raised in November.
Parkmobile drives into $6.3m
BCD Holdings, a Netherlands-based travel conglomerate founded in 1975 by John Fentener van Vlissingen and now with $22bn in annual revenues, and VC firm Bluefield Investments joined Fontinalis in the round. BCD on its website describes Parkmobile as one of its seven subsidiaries.
CoverHound insures with $8.2m
CoverHound raised $750,000 from venture capital (VC) firm Blumberg Capital in 2011 before media group Source Interlink Companies became a strategic investor last year.
Catabasis adds $9m
In December 2011, Catabasis extended its series A round by $8m to take its total raised to $47.6m from a consortium including drugs group AstraZeneca’s MedImmune Ventures corporate venturing unit.

IDG Ventures India, the local corporate venturing unit of US-based publisher International Data Group that is raising $175m for its second fund, reinvested in the B round alongside Unilazer Ventures, a family office of UTV founder and chairman Ronnie Screwvala.

Alibaba Group, an e-commerce firm based in China, and MediaTek, a fabless semiconductor company based in Taiwan, through affiliates are limited partners and members of the advisory committee of the SoftBank PrinceVille Fund.
