61draw.com, a China-based online art education platform backed by backed by education provider TAL Education Group, raised an eight-figure dollar amount in its series B round on Monday.
Venture capital firms Qiming Venture Partners and Matrix Partners China co-led the round, investing alongside seed-stage VC fund ZhenFund.
61draw operates an online platform that provides live broadcasted art lessons to children aged between five and nine. The curriculum is based on the United States’ K-12 visual art textbook and combines the KS1 and KS2 teaching systems employed by UK broadcaster BBC.
The capital will be used to further develop the company’s platform, suppport recruitment, improve its educational content and build brick-and-mortar teaching centres in China.
TAL Education led an eight-figure renminbi (RMB10m=$1.5m) series A-plus round for 61draw in June 2018, investing alongside ZhenFund, according to China Money Network. The corporate also led 61draw’s $1.4m series A round in 2015, which also featured ZhenFund.
