SwiftStack quickens pace with $16m series B

SwiftStack, a US-based developer of data storage services, has secured $16m in a series B round that featured UMC Capital, the corporate venturing division of semiconductor foundry UMC.

Venture capital firm OpenView Venture Partners led the round, which included participation from Mayfield Fund and Storm Ventures.

SwiftStack offers object storage software services to businesses. The funding will support the company as it looks to expand its go-to-market and customer engagement efforts.

Joe Arnold, chief executive of SwiftStack, said: “With this new infusion of resources we’ll be able to significantly scale on our vision to give customers an affordable, scalable, manageable and simple storage solution.”

Founded in 2011, SwiftStack raised $6.1m in a series A round in March 2013 from UMC, Storm Ventures and Mayfield Fund, after receiving $1.5m in seed funding from UMC and Storm Ventures the year before.
