US-based communications technology producer Agora raised a $20m series B round yesterday from investors including IDG Ventures, an investment affiliate of publisher International Data Group, and financial services provider Susquehanna International Group (SIG).
SIG and IDG invested alongside Morningside and GGV Capital.
Agora has created a software development kit (SDK) for real-time audio and video communication. Developers can use the SDK to easily integrate the cloud-based feature into their own apps and software without having to worry about data centres themselves.
Agora currently operates 65 data centres across the world, and has so far made its SDK available for iOS and Android app developers as for Windows.
The company has secured a total of $25.9m to date, though it has not revealed details about previous funding rounds.
Tony Zhao, chief executive and founder of Agora, said: “We are pleased that our original investors continue to support Agora with a substantial series B round of venture capital funding.
“Agora meets the needs of tomorrow’s applications to deliver richer communications between people around the world from their mobile devices.”
