AirMap locates Hangar for acquisition

Drone intelligence platform developer AirMap has paid an undisclosed amount to acquire Hangar Technology, a US-based developer of enterprise workflow automation software, allowing consulting firm R/GA to exit.

Hangar provides software that automates workflow for unmanned aerial vehicles on behalf of businesses. The product will be added to AirMap’s enterprise offering together with Hangar’s flight planning and image processing technology.

The company had raised $6.5m in a 2016 seed round led by Lux Capital that included fellow venture capital firm Fontinalis Partners. It has not disclosed details of additional funding but its investors also include R/GA unit R/GA Ventures, according to the latter’s portfolio page.

Ben Marcus, co-founder and chairman of AirMap, said: “Hangar first joined the AirMap community as a developer of breakthrough automation technologies for enterprises. We are excited to bring this engineering talent in-house to make this technology available to our entire developer community.”
