China-headquartered e-commerce group Alibaba’s Hong Kong-based Entrepreneurs Fund yesterday outlined the details of its Jumpstarter 2020 Grand Finale event, the last phase of its Jumpstarter startup competition.
The third edition of the two-day event is sponsored by financial services firm HSBC and will take place on February 11 and 12, 2020 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
More than 2,000 startups from 65 jurisdictions have submitted their candidacies, having entered pitching competitions in the cities of Hong Kong, Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, London, San Francisco, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Toronto.
A total of 40 finalists will showcase the offerings they have developed, with five winners set to secure a funding commitment of up to $5m in addition to a total of $100,000 in cash prizes.
Cindy Chow, executive director of Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund, said: “This year, Jumpstarter continues to unite startups across the world in an imaginative and vibrant forum, connecting them with more enterprises, investors and the public.
“To support global entrepreneurs and young people to pursue their dreams, the event is committed to encouraging them to leverage Hong Kong’s advantages as Asia’s hub of new opportunities to fulfil their dream of starting their own businesses.”
