Allscripts, a Nasdaq-listed healthcare provider, has acquired its corporate venturing portfolio company DBMotion, an Israel-based supplier of community health services, for about $235m.
Allscripts will initially pay $145m in cash and $50m in its stock with a further $40m due 18 months depending on performance.
Allscripts began a strategic partnership with DBMotion in 2009 and made an equity investment in the company in 2011.
DBMotion had also raised an undisclosed amount from venture capital firms Gemini Israel Funds, Pitango Venture Capital and Vertex Venture Capital and local services company Ness Technologies.
However, Allscripts said its focus was more on incubation than external investing. Ariana Nikitas, director of external relations at Allscripts, by email said: “Our current strategic direction is to build internally or own the solutions our clients need.”
Separately, Allscripts has also acquired Jardogs, a US-based provider of patient engagement services, for an undisclosed amount.
