Amazon unveils Indian accelerator partnership

E-commerce and cloud computing group Amazon has partnered Sequoia Capital India, Fireside Ventures and Startup India to launch Amazon Global Selling Propel, a startup accelerator offering participants the chance to win $50,000 of funding.

Startups will be able to pitch to venture capital firms Sequoia India and Fireside for the chance to receive a $50,000 grant from Amazon and participate in virtual mentorship sessions.

Amazon has established a mentorship board consisting of executives from the company based in India and abroad, as well as venture capitalists and senior staff from government scheme Startup India and investment promotion and facilitation agency Invest India.

Amazon will also help participants to launch their products through its export programme, Amazon Global. Potential participants will have until February 7, 2021 to apply.

Amit Agarwal, senior vice-president and country head for Amazon India, said: “Our partnership with Startup India to launch this accelerator programme will provide emerging brands an opportunity to bring their business propositions to life and help create globally popular brands from India.”
