AMCS acquires PC Scale Technologies

Following on from a €23.5m ($32m) funding round, AMCS group has acquired Pennsylvania-based PCST. Both companies produce software for use in recycling and waste-management systems.

AMCS Group chief executive, Jimmy Martin, said: “This acquisition clearly demonstrates our ability to leverage key international growth markets following the recent investment of €23.5m by Highland Capital Partners (Europe) and Investec Ventures. The acquisition of PCST provides real scale and genuine synergy, leveraging our common technology and combined industry expertise. Our increased product offering, implementation and service capabilities result in AMCS being the only provider of a truly one-stop software solution on a global scale.”

PCST has an annual turnover of approximately $10m and employs 50 people across the US. The deal positions AMCS Group as the largest provider of software and technology for the recycling and waste sector.

PCST founder and chief executive Donald Tefft said: “AMCS Group and PCST’s shared values and focus on providing superior customer service was a key component of this deal. I have complete confidence that AMCS will maintain this focus and continue delivering the products and service levels that have helped our customers grow and become so successful.”

The new division of AMCS Group will be led by PCST’s current chief operating officer, Ken Good.
