AppNexus, a US-based online advertising company backed by local software provider Microsoft, has raised $75m in its series D round.
Venture capital firm Technology Crossover Ventures (TCV) led the D round, which also included peers Venrock and Tribeca Venture Partners.
Brian O’Kelley, chief executive of AppNexus, said: “Raising this round gives us access to more than $100m to create the next generation of innovations that will transform online advertising.”
AppNexus said its total funding since launch was $140.5m. In October 2010, AppNexus raised $50m in its C round from Microsoft and venture capital firms.
Series C investors included all of AppNexus’ series B venture capital backers that invested $8m in September 2008: Venrock, Kodiak Venture Partners and First Round Capital. However, Khosla Ventures, which had been mentioned as an original investor in AppNexus, was not mentioned in this latest round of financing.
Bloomberg said AppNexus’s investors also included angels Marc Andreessen and Ron Conway. Bloomberg is an investor in Andreessen’s venture capital firm, Andreessen Horowitz.
