Aspire takes care with $15m

Aspire Health, a US-based palliative care provider backed by health insurance group Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, secured $15m on Monday in a series C round led by Oak HC/FT.

The company did not disclose the identity of the investors that joined venture capital and private equity fund Oak HC/FT in the round.

Aspire runs 11 specialised palliative care practices that provide home and outpatient-based care for patients suffering from serious illnesses, operating across US 16 cities in seven states. It will invest the money in data analytics and IT infrastructure, as well as to expand into new markets.

The company has now raised approximately $21.5m, according to press releases and regulatory filings, including $5.5m in July 2014 from BlueCross BlueShield Venture Partners, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association’s investment arm, Sandbox Industries, FCA Venture Partners and Clayton Associates.
