Atias makes Bold move at L’Oréal

Muriel Atias, formerly project director of M&A corporate finance for France-based cosmetics producer L’Oréal, has joined its corporate venturing unit, Business Opportunities for L’Oréal Development (Bold), which was established last month.

Bold hired Atias as a chief investment officer, and will take minority stakes in companies developing marketing, research and development, retail and supply chain-focused technologies.

The unit has so far backed France-based online fragrance brand Sillages Paris and partnered UK-based accelerator and incubator Founders Factory, Paris-situated startup campus Station F and venture capital firms Partech and Raise Ventures.

Atias held the project director role for nearly five years, managing turnover from L’Oréal’s real estate, industrial and R&D investments. She has also been director of financial operations for retail group Groupe Casino, overseeing its grocery store chain Franprix and discount store chain Leader Price.

Those roles came after Atias had worked for France-based banking group BNP Paribas for a decade, holding different roles in corporate finance.
