Design software provider Autodesk has acquired one of its portfolio companies, Assemble Systems, the US-based creator of a collaboration platform for the construction industry, for an undisclosed amount.
Assemble Systems has created a software platform that combines data from building information models (BIMs), drawings or point clouds to help users fulfil functions such as bid and project management, project scheduling, site management and finance
Autodesk led the company’s $12m series A round in November 2017 through its Forge Fund, investing alongside existing backers Satterfield Vintage Investments and Assemble Investments.
Assemble’s products are used by more than 170 customers. Its technology will be incorporated into BIM 360, Autodesk’s recently launched project management platform.
Andrew Anagnost, Autodesk’s president and chief executive, said: “I welcome the Assemble Systems team to the Autodesk family, as part of our efforts to digitise and improve the construction industry.
“We are connecting project data from design through construction, creating the cloud-enabled tools necessary to make the critical preconstruction phase of a project more predictable and profitable.”
