Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments, the corporate venturing arm of German media company Bertelsmann, has invested an undisclosed sum in Spanish online sales technology startup Whisbi.
The latest investment brings the total capital Whisbi has raised so far to $2.5m. Last January Spanish venture capital firm Active Venture Partners backed Whisbi with a financial contribution of an undisclosed amount.
Whisbi said it will use the money to “accelerate international growth across Europe, South America and the United States.” The company opened offices in London and São Paulo in July this year.
Whisbi, founded in 2009, designs platforms which integrate live video and telephony assistance with e-commerce websites, enabling online shoppers to receive help and support in real time via video or telephone. The Spain-based firm is said to have some big clients, including Vodafone, Citibank and American Express.
