Betaworks, a US-based technology startup studio, company builder and seed stage investor, is reported in Techcrunch to be raising $20m series C financing, comprising $10m in equity capital funding and $10m in debt funding.
So far, a reported $4.25m has been raised out of the planned equity capital raise, with the participation of new, angel investors.
Previously, Betaworks has raised approximately $28m from investors including Intel Capital, the corporate venturing and strategic investment unit of semiconductor chip maker Intel, and venture capital firms RRE Ventures, Lerer Ventures and White Star Capital.
Betaworks’ seed investing is typically $100,000 – $200,000 in size, and the firm was one of the first investors in Tumblr.
