Boston Scientific, a US-based medical device maker, has led a $9.7m series B round for Channel Medsystems, a local medical technology company.
Channel Medsystems also announced that Ric Cote, a former vice-president of sales at Conceptus, a medical technology company acquired by Bayer Healthcare in April, has taken over as chief executive.
Venture capital firms InCube Ventures, Aperture Ventures, Scientific Health Development II and STCM Ventures also participated in the B round.
The funding will be used to fund research and development on a single use, self-contained, handheld device for performing global endometrial ablations, a common medical technique used to treat excessive menstrual bleeding.
The company has not previously disclosed any investments.
