Boss Zhipin commands nine-figure series E amount

China-based recruitment platform developer Boss Zhipin has completed a series E round sized at hundreds of millions of dollars that included internet company Tencent, China Money Network reported today.

The round consisted of multiple tranches, with Tencent participating in one tranche and leading another, and the corporate now owns approximately 10% of the company as a result. Details of the other participants were not disclosed.

Founded in 2014, Boss Zhipin has created an online search portal for jobs that relies on big data analytics to recommend suitable positions. Recruiters and candidates can also communicate directly with each other through its app.

Zhao Peng, Boss Zhipin’s founder and chief executive, recently said the company is considering an initial public offering, and the series E capital has been allocated to business growth according to a person familiar with the matter.

Details oft Boss Zhipin’s historic funding are sparse. The only other round confirmed by the company was a $28m series C round in 2016 that was co-led by investment firm Meridian Capital China and venture capital firm Gaorong Capital.

Ceyuan Venture Capital, Heyu Alternative Investment, Capital Today and Shunwei Capital also took part in the series C round, the latter two being identified at the time as returning backers.
