US-based cloud software developer Bracket Computing closed a series C round on Wednesday sized at more than $45m and backed by industrial conglomerate General Electric (GE) and wireless technology producer Qualcomm.
Financial services conglomerate Fidelity Management and Research, and investment bank Goldman Sachs also committed funds alongside Norwest Venture Partners, Allegis Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Artis Ventures, Columbus Nova Technology Partners and Sutter Hill Ventures.
Bracket’s technology, dubbed Bracket Computing Cell, enables businesses to run applications seamlessly across their own data centre and different cloud providers. The funding will support further development of the technology and its worldwide commercial launch.
Founded in 2011, Bracket emerged from stealth mode in October 2014, when it revealed it had raised $85m in combined series A and B funding from backers including GE, Norwest and Qualcomm, which invested through its Qualcomm Ventures unit.
Andreessen Horowitz, Sutter Hill, Artis and Allegis also supported the earlier funding, while Columbus Nova has only now been revealed to have also been an investor.
