Bustle pushes its way to $15.5m series C

Bustle, a US-based digital media provider backed by internet company Google and media conglomerate Time Warner, has raised $15.5m in series C funding, Fortune has reported.

Venture capital firm General Catalyst Partners led the round, which also featured Time Warner Investments, a corporate venturing subsidiary of Time Warner, as well as fellow existing investors Rothenberg Ventures, Social+Capital Partnership and 500 Startups.

Founded last year, Bustle is as a news and entertainment site focused on women. The company, which has begun monetising its advertising, will use the money to develop its sales operations.

The funding brings the total raised by the company to $27m across three rounds.

Bustle raised $6.5m in series A funding in August 2013 from Time Warner, Google Ventures, Social+Capital, Rothenberg and 500 Startups before securing a further $5m from Time Warner, Social+Capital and R&R Ventures in July this year.
