Research in Motion (RIM), the maker of the BlackBerry mobile phones, has acquired CellMania, a US-based provider of wireless applications set up in 1999.
Cellmania had raised more than $20m in venture funding from strategic investors Office Depot, BroadVision and Motorola and venture capital firms Pino Venture Partners, ZAP Ventures, Pembroke Capital, Kiwi Ventures and Archery Capital, according to news providers PEHub.com and VentureWire.
Earlier in the week, RIM’s corporate venturing division, BlackBerry Partners Fund, invested in the $15m series B round of mobile apps developer PocketGear.
