Chobani to feed startups through incubator

US-based yoghurt producer Chobani, has launched an incubator that will assist entrepreneurs aiming to disrupt the food industry.

Based in New York, Chobani Food Incubator will consist of a six-month programme that will provide participating entrepreneurs with funding, commercial kitchens, office space, access to Chobani’s leadership team, classes and training programmes.

Chobani has not yet revealed how much it plans to invest in each participating startup. Pitches will be accepted from December 2014, and a total of 10 companies will be selected for the first cohort.

Hamdi Ulukaya, founder and chief executive of Chobani, said: “Today we are opening our doors to entrepreneurs who share our vision for better food for tomorrow – food that is natural and affordable.

“Making a product the right way is not always easy, but we have proven that the model works. I am excited to work with entrepreneurs who share our goal and who can benefit from our experience.”
