Nonprofit academic medical centre Cleveland Clinic has joined forces with healthcare organisation ProMedica as part of a Cleveland-led Innovation Alliance.
ProMedica joins the healthcare organisation MedStar Health, New York-based healthcare network North Shore-LIJ, and the Indiana-based University of Notre Dame, as part of the Cleveland Clinic Innovation Alliance. The alliance seeks to collaborate on providing joint development opportunities, as well as to identify openings for the commercialisation of medical innovations.
Cleveland Clinic Innovations (CCI) will donate a dedicated senior commercialisation officer to ProMedica with an eye to deliver new medical innovations to patients. ProMedica will also have access to CCI’s technological backing, as well as CCI’s commercialisation experience which both parties will use to explore new avenues of revenue generation within ProMedica’s healthcare system.
CCI executive director Chris Coburn said in a statement, “We look forward to launching this Alliance. ProMedica has a strong commitment to innovation. We believe our collaboration will rapidly benefit patients and will be an important element of our growing national Innovation Alliance network.”
“Innovation is increasingly becoming a critical institutional priority for ProMedica, and we are looking for new ways to engage our physicians and employees in offering them a pathway to turn their ideas into products and services that meet the needs of our communities,” said ProMedica chief medical officer Lee Hammerling, MD, in a statement.
He added: “We are excited to be working with Cleveland Clinic, which has a strong history in technology and new venture development, and a proven track record in converting and commercializing medical expertise.”
