US-based cloud services management platform CloudHealth Technologies raised $20m on Tuesday in a series C round led by Sapphire Ventures, the venture capital firm spun out of enterprise software producer SAP.
Scale Venture Partners, 406 Ventures and Sigma Prime Ventures also took part in the round. Jai Das, managing director at Sapphire Ventures, will join CloudHealth’s board of directors.
Founded in 2012, CloudHealth operates a platform that lets companies visualise, optimise and automate their cloud and data centre ecosystem. The company’s clients include rail operator Amtrak, news publication Dow Jones and software-as-a-service provider Acquia.
The money will go towards platform development and the strengthening of CloudHealth’s sales and marketing, engineering, support and customer experience departments.
Scale Venture Partners led a $12m series B round for CloudHealth in January 2015 that included 406 and Sigma Prime, both of which had previously contributed to both tranches of a $7.7m series A round closed in 2014.
Dan Phillips, co-founder and chief executive of CloudHealth, said: “Sapphire Ventures has a proven track record of creating global category leaders, which is why we are proud they are leading this round.
“Sapphire engaged with us immediately after we closed our B round and spent the following year learning about our business and culture. During that time, the Sapphire team provided tremendous value to us and aligned very well with our culture. It was an ideal process with a VC in terms of the value and commitment they demonstrated.”
