US-based voice-analysis technology developer Cogito has added $4.1m to increase a series B round featuring enterprise software provider Salesforce.com’s corporate venturing unit, Salesforce Ventures, to $19.1m, according to a securities filing.
The round’s $15m first tranche, which closed in November 2016, was led by OpenView with participation from fellow venture capital firm Romulus Capital. Cogito has not revealed the identity of the investors that provided the additional funding.
Founded in 2007 as a spinout of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cogito has developed analytics software for call centres that analyses changes in voice patterns, such as long pauses, conversation flow and vocal strain, in both staff and callers to offer feedback on how to make discussions more efficient.
The funding will be used to acquire more clients and to support further technology development. Cogito secured $1m in capital in May 2016, according to a securities filing, after Romulus Capital led a $5.5m series A round in late 2015 that also featured Salesforce Ventures.
Cogito had raised $1m in seed capital in 2014, adding to a $20,000 investment as part of its participation in accelerator Summer@Highland in 2007.
