US-based connected driving app provider Automatic Labs secured $24m yesterday in a series B round backed by Comcast Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of cable service provider Comcast.
An investment subsidiary of insurance and financial services provider USAA led the round. Car dealer management technology company CDK Global, Y Combinator, RPM Ventures, Anthemis Group, Amicus Capital and several angel investors also took part.
Automatic has developed a connected car platform and in-car device that allows users to access a range of apps to improve the driving experience as well as driver safety.
The company, which has also formed a partnership with CDK to improve the sales and service experience for car owners, will use the funding to expand the range of apps on its platform and accelerate growth.
The round increased Automatic’s overall funding to $32m. It previously received capital from investors including Y Combinator, RPM Ventures, Anthemis and Amicus.
