OSF Ventures, the strategic investment arm of care provider OSF HealthCare, has supplied an undisclosed amount of funding for US-based medical information platform PatientWisdom, the companies announced on Tuesday. PatientWisdom had raised almost $3.4m of a $4.9m round as of September 21, according to a regulatory filing that did not reveal whether OSF was one of the 12 investors to have provided the capital.
Japan-based personalised news app creator Spectee has secured ¥260m ($2.3m) in a series B round led by YJ Capital, the investment arm of internet company Yahoo Japan, that included media image provider Kyodo News Images and Mizuho Capital, the VC arm of Mizuho Financial, as well as Quaras, the advertising subsidiary of media group Fuji Sankei, Arco Partners and private investor Makoto Naruke, The Bridge reported on Wednesday. Spectee had previously raised an undisclosed sum in July 2016.
Medical device producer Cogentix Medical has invested $2m in Vensica Medical, the Israel-headquartered developer of an ultrasound-based system that can deliver drug loads without needles. The investment, which follows $500,000 from an undisclosed international investor in July 2016, will get Cogentix a seat on Vensica’s board of directors and the option to wholly acquire the company for another $8m.
US-based industrial networking software developer Veracity Industrial Networks has received $1.5m in funding from investors including industrial component producer Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories and semiconductor technology provider Microsemi, SocalTech reported on Wednesday. Hollencrest Capital Management also contributed to the round, which follows $3m of equity funding in May 2016 from undisclosed investors, according to a securities filing.
Kredivo, an Indonesia-based online payment technology startup backed by internet company GMO, has received an undisclosed amount in a series A round co-led by VC firms Jungle Ventures and NSI Ventures that closed “a few months ago,” Tech in Asia reported on Wednesday. GMO’s corporate venturing unit, GMO Venture Partners, had joined Jungle Ventures, AlphaJWC Ventures and 500 Startups for Kredivo’s seed round in 2016, according to Tech in Asia.
Thailand-based peer-to-peer car sharing service Drivemate has raised a “mid-to-high six-digit” dollar amount from Dtac Accelerate, an early-stage investment subsidiary of telecommunications company Dtac, and VC fund 500 Tuk Tuks, Tech in Asia reported on Monday. Drivemate has more than 6,000 cars in its network spanning 35 Thai cities, and takes a 25% cut of each payment transaction made on its platform.
Frontier Digital Ventures, an online classified listings holding company backed by internet company Catcha Group, has invested an undisclosed amount in Philippines-based online property marketplace Hoppler, Tech in Asia reported today. Hoppler takes a commission for each property it sells, and puts each prospective buyer in touch with a real estate broker who specialises in the area in which the property in question is located.
