US-based personalised video marketing platform SundaySky closed a $30m series D round yesterday from a consortium including the corporate venturing subsidiaries of media company Comcast and telecoms firm NTT Docomo.
Comcast Ventures and NTT Docomo Ventures were joined by lead investor Viola Private Equity as well as Carmel Ventures, Globespan Capital Partners and Norwest Venture Partners, the VC firm managing funds on behalf of financial services firm Wells Fargo. Other, unnamed investors also took part.
NTT Docomo Ventures participated as a strategic investor, though the company has not revealed details about the partnership.
SundaySky’s technology enables companies to create personalised videos that include real-time data such as product pricing. The smart videos, as the company calls them, can be generated in seconds.
The investment will go towards scaling growth and continued product development.
Ayal Shiran, general partner at Viola, will join the board of directors. Concurrently, Rami Hadar, former president and chief executive of IP service optimisation technology producer Allot Communications, has been appointed as executive chairman.
Comcast Ventures previously led a $20m series C round in 2013. That round also featured Liberty Global Ventures, the investment fund of telecoms and media company Liberty Global, as well as Vintage Investment Partners, Carmel, Globespan and Norwest.
Norwest led a $9m series B round in 2010 that included Carmel and Globespan, the two investors who previously co-led an $8m series A in 2009.
