Software provider Microsoft’s corporate venture capital unit, M12, co-led a $15m series A round for Israel-based cybersecurity technology startup Hunters yesterday with VC firm US Venture Partners.
The round included Okta Ventures, the $50m VC fund formed by identity management software producer Okta, as well as VC firm Blumberg Capital and cybersecurity-focused fund YL Ventures.
Hunters has created a software platform that applies artificial intelligence and machine learning technology to data to autonomously find and detect cyber threats on behalf of cybersecurity teams.
Mony Hassid, M12’s managing director of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: “To overcome today’s cyber threat landscape, enterprise [chief information security officers] need to think like attackers in order to anticipate their moves, and they need to do it at scale.
“By automating the threat hunting process, Hunters addresses both needs. Hunters has an exceptionally strong team with an intimate understanding of attacker techniques, which is critical in this business.”
The funding will be used to enhance the company’s machine learning technology. Blumberg Capital and YL Ventures had previously co-led its’s $5.4m seed round in May 2019.
