Canada-based television production company Corus Entertainment led a $12m series C round for US-based digital media company Kin on Thursday.
Investment firm Emil Capital also patricipated in the round, alongside venture capital firms Rustic Canyon Partners, Mayfield Fund and General Catalyst Partners.
Kin owns KIN Community, a female-focused lifestyle network on YouTube that attracts more than 25 million views a month. The funding will be allocated to talent acquisition and support, expansion of Kin’s sales team, original programming and new business development opportunities.
The cash was invested as Kin and Corus launched a new business, KIN Canada, which will target the Canadian marketplace.
“This new round of funding will further accelerate our vision to be the global leader in lifestyle by empowering the best lifestyle creators,” said Michael Wayne, co-Founder and chief executive of Kin.
“We’re thrilled that Corus recognises the unique value KIN Community brings creators, brands and consumers as a lifestyle platform, and we are looking forward to working with them as a partner.”
Kin has now raised $27m in funding since being founded in 2007.
