Andrea Course left US-based oil and gas services provider Schlumberger last month to join Shell Ventures, petroleum producer Shell’s corporate venturing vehicle, as a venture principal.
Course had spent approximately 18 months in the same position at Schlumberger and was named one of Global Corporate Venturing Rising Stars in January 2019, three months prior to her departure.
During her time at Schlumberger, Course sat on the board of Norway-based cable condition monitoring products provider Wirescan and participated in a deal for US-based cybersecurity software provider Onapsis.
Other investments Schlumberger made in 2018 included greenhouse gas emissions monitor GHGSat, workplace robotics technology provider Sarcos Robotics and memory storage technology developer Nantero.
Concerning her new job at Shell Ventures, Course told GCV: “Moving to a new role is always challenging since a big part of doing corporate ventures is the internal networking and being able to connect with key stakeholders inside the organisation.
“I am looking forward to learning more about Shell and being a key part of their vision for making the new energies business a success and part of the lower-carbon solution we need in our energy system.”
