George Coyle, manager of technology venture investments for oil and gas company ConocoPhillips for more than five years, has left to form a new entity called Energy Innovation Capital.
Although Energy Innovation Capital has not publicly disclosed any information about itself, Coyle’s LinkedIn profile states it will provide venture and growth capital for companies in the energy, oil and gas technology sectors. A regulatory filing indicates it has so far raised $42.8m in capital.
Coyle joined ConocoPhillips in 2010. Companies it invested in during that time include energy storage technology developer General Compression, industrial microbiome analysis company Taxon Biosciences and oil recovery technology provider Glori Energy.
