Dexetra Software Solutions, an India-based mobile phone search engine, has raised between $1m and $2m from venture capital firm Sequoia Capital and Qualcomm Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of the eponymous chip maker. As part of the investment, Dexetra has relocated to San Francisco, California, according to news provider TechCrunch.
In December 2010, One97 Mobility Fund, the corporate venturing unit of the eponymous local mobile phone operator, provided an undisclosed amount.
At the time, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, chairman of One97 Communications, said: “For our early stage investments, we follow a simple principle – invest in great founder and his team. Businesses are outputs of intelligent minds and passionate hands and not excel sheets. We have invested in passion of team and their capabilities.”
Narayan Babu, chief executive of Dexetra, added: “One97 offers unique insight and window to the world of mobility and telecommunications. The investment brings to Dexetra valuable mentorship and experience along with the round of funds.”
