Docomo begins third incubator programme

Docomo Ventures, the startup-focused investment arm of Japan-based mobile phone operator NTT Docomo, has announced the four startups chosen for its incubation programme, which begins today.

This is the third time the programme has been run. The startups will compete to earn grants of up to Y5m ($50,000), as well as office space alongside Docomo and mentorship from the programme’s partnering companies.

The startups are:

Unlog – an app where users can detail their bowel movements;

Money Smart – an online financial management platform;

Liquid – a payment and reward platform that uses fingerprints as identification for shopping instead of a wallet.

Details of the fourth startup are yet to be announced.

Progress made under the incubation programme will be showcased at a Demo Day on 6th November.
