Donut, the US-based developer of an enterprise messaging platform, disclosed $12m in funding yesterday from investors including Bloomberg Beta and Slack Fund, investment vehicles for media group Bloomberg and communication software provider Slack.
Venture capital firms Accel and FirstMark are also among the company’s backers, as are the founders of startups Envoy, InVision and Codecademy. It had raised just over $1m from investors including Slack Fund in 2017, according to a regulatory filing.
Founded in 2016, Donut has built a software tool designed to help employees communicate in ways that foster team building. It can introduce colleagues through Slack and digitally recreate ‘watercooler’ workplace conversations.
Donut said in a blog post announcing the funding: “[The investors’] backing will continue to accelerate product innovation, growth and the value we deliver to everyone using Donut.”
