Eight Sleep, a US-based connected mattress developer backed by cable and telecommunications company Comcast, has received $10.4m in funding, according to a regulatory filing.
Eight produces connected mattresses and bed covers that monitor sleep patterns and environmental data to track sleep quality. The products come with a built-in bed warmer and link with smart devices to control ambience and door locks.
The company closed a series A round backed by Comcast’s corporate venturing vehicle, Comcast Ventures, StartX, Yunqi Partners, Azure Capital, Sinovation Ventures and Y Combinator at $12.9m in February 2017, according to a securities filing.
Comcast, Y Combinator, Yunqi, Azure and Stanford had previously contributed to Eight’s $6m seed round, which closed in March 2016, investing alongside Cota Capital, Vast Ventures, Galvanize Ventures and angel investor Jared Friedman.
The seed round came after Eight had accumulated $1.3m in a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo in 2015.
