Network software supplier Enea has agreed to acquire France-based network intelligence software provider Qosmos for €52m ($58m), providing an exit to market research firm GFK.
Founded in 2000, Qosmos produces IP traffic classification and network intelligence software that enables vendors to embed real-time application visibility in their products.
GFK, Sofinnova Partners and Alven Capital combined for an $8m funding round in 2008 that counted as the third raised by Qosmos, before DFJ Esprit, French sovereign wealth fund FSI and Alven provided $28.5m in a 2011 round, the last disclosed by Qosmos, which allowed Sofinnova to exit.
Sofinnova Partners had provided the brunt of the €5.2m raised by Qosmos in rounds in 2004 and 2007, with €100,000 coming from French regional investment fund Picardie Avenir.
