Eruditor, a Russia-based startup that helps users find hairdressers, fitness instructors, plumbers, or doctors via specialized service marketplaces raised $12m at the end of August, at an undisclosed valuation from Intel Capital, Frontier Ventures, and Runa Capital.
The Moscow-based startup claims to have served 400,000 users since its launch in 2007 and provided more than 100,000 professionals with over $200m of revenues.
In 2010, Eruditor raised an initial $600,000 from serial angel investor Igor Ryabenki. In October 2012, Intel Capital and Runa Capital injected $4m in the startup in exchange for a minority stake.
Eruditor’s platforms are active in the major cities of Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. The service is offered at no charge to users, but specialists must pay a small commission fee to Eruditor for each new client.
Among the startup’s most active platforms are “Vash Repetitor,” with more than 110,000 teachers offering their services, “Treda.ru,” a booking service for music and show performers, “InfoDoctor,” which connects doctors and patients, and “Dukh Sporta,” for sports and fitness instructors.
Eruditor has long term expansion plans in other countries of the former Soviet Union and emerging countries.
