Samsung reported investing in Reactor

Reactor Inc, a US-based artificial-intelligence-as-a-service startup which publishes the iPhone app Winston, a personalised newscaster, is reported to have received a strategic investment from Samsung Ventures Investment Corp, the venture capital division of South Korean conglomerate Samsung.  The deal is reported to include a collaboration through Samsung’s newly launched Open Innovation Center.

Reactor Inc was incubated by DreamIt Ventures and in January 2013 raised $750,000 seed funding.  Investors in Reactor include Windforce Ventures,  a venture capital firm specializing in early-stage social media and mobile technology investments, Comcast Ventures, the venture capital affiliate of cable television company Comcast Corporation, mobile technologies-focused seed stage venture capital firm ENIAC Ventures, and private equity firm Woodgen LLC.

A new iteration of the Winston app is scheduled to be launched in Autumn 2013.
