Eventus revels in series A funding

US-based financial market monitoring and fraud detection software developer Eventus Systems has received $10.5m of series A funding from investors including Coinbase Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of digital currency exchange Coinbase.

Venture capital firms Jump Capital and LiveOak Venture Partners co-led the round with contributions from equities broker and dealer Chimera Securities and undisclosed VC and financial services investors.

Eventus offers a machine learning-equipped software platform, Validus, that lets high-volume securities traders monitor asset transactions across multiple classes and identify potential regulatory issues in addition to attempted market fraud or manipulation.

The capital will give Eventus room to pursue business in Europe and Asia while funding technology development and bolstering headcount across its sales, development and customer service teams.

Peter Johnson, principal of Jump Capital, and Krishna Srinivasan, founding partner at LiveOak, have joined the company’s board of directors. Eventus had already raised about $11.7m in equity and debt financing across four rounds between 2015 and late 2018, according to regulatory filings.
