Gary Fingerhut, who took over from Chris Coburn as acting executive director Cleveland Clinic Innovations, the commercialization arm of Cleveland Clinic, in April 2013, has been named as its official executive director.
Dr. Thomas J. Graham, chief innovation officer at Cleveland Clinic, said: “Gary has demonstrated considerable dedication and creativity, and his background as a successful entrepreneur made him a strong choice for this important post.”
Fingerhut has said that he wants “to focus on inventor satisfaction”.
Cleveland Clinic Innovations was established in May 2000 as the commercialization arm of Cleveland Clinic, and has executed over 500 licenses and created 64 spin-off companies, which have raised more than $640m in equity investment.
