Fireblocks constructs $16m series A round

US-based digital asset security platform developer Fireblocks has publicly launched with $16m of series A funding from investors including Swisscom Ventures, telecommunications company Swisscom’s corporate venturing unit.

The round also featured Eight Roads Ventures, a subsidiary of investment and financial services group Fidelity, as well as cybersecurity-focused venture capital fund Cyberstarts, VC firm Tenaya Capital and blockchain-oriented accelerator MState.

Fireblocks has created platform that enables digital assets such as cryptocurrencies and tokens to be securely managed while being protected from theft and other security risks.

The platform integrates with 15 digital asset trading exchanges and more than 180 different crypto denominations. Fireblocks’ clients include digital asset bank Galaxy Digital and digital currency trading firm Genesis Global.

Davor Hebel, Eight Roads Ventures partner and head of its European office, said: “Sitting as part of the broader Fidelity group, we realise that cybersecurity is crucial in the adoption of blockchain and digital assets.

“We are excited to support the Fireblocks team as it develops a cutting-edge technology that will help propel digital assets trading to the next level of evolution, enabling huge improvements in operational efficiencies, security and trust.”
