FlatFrog Laboratories, a Sweden-based developer of a 32” multi-touch screen, has raised €20m ($27m) from a consortium led by Intel Capital, the corporate venturing unit of the eponymous US-listed chip maker.
Alongside Intel Capital in the round were venture investment firms Invus and Sunstone Capital.
Christer Fåhraeus, executive chairman and founder at FlatFrog, who replaced Jonas Hedre as chief executive in April, said: “At the right price-points and with the right technology, we believe every screen in the world will be touch-enabled. This new investment round, and the collaboration opportunities created by teaming with Intel Capital, will allow us to run even faster to reach our goal.”
Serial entrepreneurs Ola Wassvik and Fåhraeus founded Flatfrog in 2007 and the company holds more than 60 patent families in optical wave-guide touch technology.
The company raised €12.5m in January 2010 from a consortium that then included interactive learning company Promethean, which had been a competitor to an Intel Capital-backed peer, Smart Technologies.
