Gem shines with $37m series B

Gem, the US-based recruitment software provider that counts media technology holding company WndrCo as an investor, has secured $37m in series B funding.

Greylock Partners led the round, which included fellow venture capital firm Accel. The latter had led the company’s $9m series A round in March 2019.

Formerly known as ZenSourcer, Gem has built a software platform that integrates with a customer’s own talent tracking resources as well as social media platform LinkedIn to source qualified applicants to fill positions.

The company has more than 300 companies among its customers and is launching a tool called Diversity Analytics to help them in hiring more diverse workforces.

Steve Bartel, Gem’s co-founder and CEO, said: “With Gem, our customers can build relationships with talent, ultimately filling open roles faster. The strong word-of-mouth growth among recruiters helped contribute to four-times revenue growth in 2019, and our best quarter yet in 2020.

“With this latest investment, we are thrilled to continue expanding Gem’s product to help our customers meet their hiring goals, including through our newest feature, Diversity Analytics.”

The company said the series B round boosted its total funding to $48m. WndrCo has not confirmed details of its investment but includes Gem in the portfolio page of its website.
